“Sherenschnitte” was brought to the American Colonies by 18th-century German immigrants, many of whom ended up living in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.  Carefully scissoring paper with sharp, tiny incisions, practitioners crafted elaborate landscape designs that included deer and other animals.  Fashioning silhouettes of people was popular as well.

Come join Cultural Historian Diane Schwindt to make your very own paper-cut design!  (There is a $10 fee to join this class.  If possible, bring small sharp scissors.)  Enjoy!
