This program is intended for adults age 18 and older.

They were the “Saturday Night Heros”, the “Weekend Warriors” . These are the stories of the men and women who were there at the beginning in the 1950’s and 1960’s and who built the sport of stock car racing on Long Island. Author Ken Spooner saw it all unfold before his eyes as a child in the stands of Riverhead Raceway and Islip Speedway. Ride back in time with Long Island’s greatest drivers to take a look at the way stock car racing was and will never be again. Ken will be doing a brief reading from a chapter or two with an additional slide presentation. Joining Mr. Spooner will be noted auto racing historian Marty Himes of
the Himes Museum of Auto Racing.
